Prologue - Him

Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple... She always reminds me of that. I don’t know why. I guess she knows things better than me. Who wouldn’t want to know all the answers to the questions that ever existed. However, being that curious would probably lead you to your death earlier than predicted. I should tell her that. Some people know no limit, they want everything. Humans are cheap, selfish, greedy and stupid. Who cares about that Earth anymore? Who cares about the people left behind on that rotting planet?
That leaves us with our respected leader to help us find a solution. We have everything we could ever want. We have capable leaders, enough food resources, Ness and our highly ranked Winged Riders.
My name? I can’t tell you. It’s top secret. I can tell you this - I am a Winged Rider, the most respected of all. I have been living a comfortably as one, but now my life is going to change. I have been selected for a crucial mission on Ness. A lot is at stake here and I cannot afford to mess this up.
They do not know much about Ness. They say it is teeming with alien life. The don’t know how correct that assumption is. Communication attempts from Ness rarely got through to Earth but it is easy for people to send a message here. Maybe it was due to the secret missions carried out here. Despite the uncertainty, Earth’s government thought that the plan of setting up a settlement here was worth the risk. Anyways, it was just a matter of time before the we would reach our limit and everything would break into chaos.

Prologue - Her

Sometimes what's real is something you can't see... Shane, my brother, always reminds me of that. I don’t know why. I guess he is just trying to be optimistic. Who wouldn’t want to indulge in the feeling that everything is okay and that Earth is not dying. Being that optimistic would probably lead you to your death earlier than predicted. I should tell him that. Earth is dying, our home is dying, so what do we do? Easy, just go occupy another planet or our moon. Humans are cheap. We are selfish, greedy and stupid. Who cares about that Earth anymore? Who cares about the people left behind on that rotting planet?
That leaves us with our useless government to help us, but I wouldn’t consider that helping. They just want manpower to occupy another space in the universe just so they can call it theirs. Here’s the deal - Ness is a planet identified as suitable for humans. Some of us are being transported there but once you go there, there is no turning back. There are rumors that Ness contains creatures of such intelligence that it was impossible for us to survive there, therefore people were recruited to tame and control a certain species of these creatures, named the winged ones, for protection. Not all were successful. Some even lost their lives, but there were people who succeeded and these victorious ones were called the Winged Riders.
My name? Terra Faith. I am a sixteen year old who lives on Earth. But now my life is going to change. I have been selected to be transported to Ness while leaving my family behind. I just received a letter from the government today and will be leaving for Ness tomorrow. Permanently.
No one knows much about Ness. Some say it is heaven compared to Earth while others say it was the most dangerous place they had ever heard about. Communication attempts from Ness rarely got through to Earth but it is easy for people to send a message there. Maybe it was due to the lack of technology there. Despite the uncertainty the government thought that the plan of setting up a settlement there was worth the risk. Anyways, it was just a matter of time before I would find out the truth.
